Kimono Studio Photoshoot in Asakusa
Indoors, in a real Japanese room. Any weather.
Our Japanese-Style Photo Studio, One Minute from Sensoji
A kimono studio photoshoot in Asakusa, shot entirely indoors in a real Japanese room — sliding paper doors (shoji) and tatami-mat floors, not a printed backdrop. Your kimono is styled first, then photographed in the soft daylight that comes through the paper screens, one minute from Sensoji Temple. Sessions run 20 to 60 minutes, so there is no walking, no crowds, and no weather to plan around.
Because the light and the set are controlled indoors, your photos are made right in camera — every package is delivered as original files, and retouching is an add-on you choose only if you want it.

When the Studio Is the Better Choice
An outdoor walk around Sensoji is beautiful, but it is not always the right plan. Choose the indoor studio when:
- It rains or snows. The session runs exactly the same indoors — no umbrella, no cancelling, no watching the forecast.
- Summer is too hot. Wearing kimono outdoors through a Tokyo July or August is hard work. The studio is air-conditioned and calm.
- Winter is too cold. Kimono is thin. On a January morning an indoor session means you are not shivering in every photo.
- Asakusa is crowded. Weekends, public holidays and cherry blossom season fill Nakamise with people. Indoors there is nobody in the background.
- You want privacy. Some guests would rather not be photographed in public. The studio is a closed room, just you and the photographer.
- You are with small children or older family members. No long walk, no standing in the sun — seating and restrooms are right there.
- Your time is short. A 20-minute studio session fits between other plans; an outdoor shoot needs walking time on top.
You do not have to choose only one. Many guests book the studio first and then walk out into Asakusa in the same kimono — see our outdoor kimono photoshoot packages.

Studio Photoshoot FAQ
What happens if it rains on the day of my shoot?
Nothing changes. Studio sessions are shot entirely indoors under natural daylight, so rain, snow and summer heat make no difference to your booking. This is the session many guests choose precisely because the weather is uncertain.
How long does the whole visit take, not just the shoot?
Kimono dressing and hairstyling take about 25–30 minutes, and makeup adds another 40–50 minutes if you book it. The studio session itself runs 20 minutes for the Studio Photoshoot Package and up to 60 minutes for the Signature Studio Package. Most guests are with us for around two hours in total.
Do studio packages include retouched photos?
No — and that is deliberate. Because the light and the set are controlled indoors, your photos are made right in camera and delivered as original files. Retouching is a separate add-on you choose after reviewing your photos, so you only pay to edit the images you actually want.
How many photos will I receive?
Around 30–50 original files for a 20-minute session, and 50–100 for the longer sessions. Files are delivered the same day, transferred to your phone or sent as a Google Drive link.
Can I shoot in the studio and outdoors on the same day?
Yes. Many guests start in the studio, then walk out to Sensoji in the same kimono. An additional fee applies when a session covers more than one location — message us and we will quote both together.
